HOW TO WEAR BEACH MAKEUP

A full face of makeup just looks wrong at the beach or by the pool. Any products you put on should be light and sheer—you want to look like a sunnier version of yourself.


· Protect your skin. Before you apply any makeup, slather on a generous coat of sunscreen. Give it at least 20 minutes to soak in—it needs to dry for full effectiveness and so that anything you put on top won't smear. When you need to reapply, try a powder sunblock, such as Colorescience Sunforgettable SPF 30 Brush, which won't disturb your makeup.

· Forget flawless. In humid weather, anything that is creamy or greasy—like foundation or concealer—is going to smudge almost instantly. If you absolutely can't imagine going without coverage, try mixing a bit of foundation into your sunscreen and applying it that way. I prefer powder-based products, like a light dusting of translucent powder to combat shine. If you need to cover a blemish, use a stiff concealer brush or a Q-tip to dab a little pressed powder onto the area.

· Bronze yourself. Any makeup you do wear should enhance your skin's natural color. Choose a bronzer in a shade that looks like a natural tan, and make sure it doesn't have any shimmer, which won't look right in the bright sun. Dust the bronzer on your eyelids, just above your cheekbones, and on the apples of your cheeks, plus a little on your forehead, temples, and chin. Follow with a tiny bit of pink powder blush on your cheeks.

· Make it last. Most waterproof makeup sits there like glue and looks pasty. Waterproof mascara is the exception. Try a lengthening formula (the thickening and volumizing ones tend to clump). Consider a lip stain or a matte lipstick, since gloss will slide right off in the heat. I like bright colors, such as cherry red or vibrant fuchsia, which flatter tan and pink cheeks. Dab just a bit in the center of the mouth.

· Avoid touch-ups. My general rule is that you apply makeup before you leave the house, and whatever fades, fades. The beach is not the place to reapply. If you get sweaty or your makeup feels clumpy, just dab your face with blotting paper.

8 STEPS TO THE PERFECT SMOKEY EYE according to Troy

Step 1: Use a light moisturizer and eye cream to prepare the skin. Apply primer and highlighter.
Step 2: Dab a touch of concealer under the eyes, around the mouth, and anywhere to conceal skin imperfections. Blend with a foundation brush.
Step 3: Dab a touch of highlighter at the top of the cheek bones, above the lip, and down the center of the nose. Blend well with the same foundation brush you used with the concealer
Step 4: Set with pressed powder.
Step 5: Apply powder cheek color, starting with the apples of the cheek and blending upward toward the hairline. Blend well
Step 6: Start eyes with a well-groomed brow and using your powder eye-shadow trio, dust the light shade just below the brow and the darker shade over the entire eye lid and below the lower lash line, creating a smokey effect. Blending upward but not too cat-like. Then line entire eye with black eyeliner and blend with a sponge applicator or q-tip. Curl and coat your lashes.

Step 7: Line your lips with a neutral lip-liner, if needed, for added definition or just simply apply the pale pink lipstick to the entire lips and top off with the shimmering lip gloss.

Here's how to get Kardashian's bronzy, smoky eye look:

1. Start out with a bit of foundation on the eyelids and set with loose powder. This will give your lids the perfect base to apply shadows and blend them flawlessly.

2. Take a medium to dark shimmery shade of either copper, bronze or slate and apply all over the lids up to the crease. Try MAC PRO Reflects in Antique Gold.

3. Using a clean soft brush, blend that out towards the temples. I like to blend up as well for a great smokey cat eye. Line all along the upper lash line with a black pencil and go thicker with the line towards the outter corners.

4. Using a small brush or Q-Tip, blend the top line a bit so that the liner blends into the shadow on the lid.

5. Curl lashes and apply a couple of coats of mascara. Try Lancome's Hypnose Drama mascara for great volume and length.

6. Clean off the under eye area with a makeup wipe. Apply concealer underneath the eyes. Try Smashbox High Definition Liquid Concealer.

7. Set concealer with a loose powder. Use the black pencil along the inner rim of the eyes and feel free to go outside of the inner rim and along the lower lashes just a bit.

8. Using the copper shadow on a smaller brush, smoke the lower lash line right below the black line. Blend with a clean brush so there are no harsh lines.

9. Finish the eyes with black mascara on the lower lashes as well.

I first prepared Kim’s skin with a light moisturizer, my favorite primer/highlighter, and blended a touch of concealer under her eyes and over her mouth to prepare her for my pastel palette. I evened out Kim’s complexion with a liquid foundation and set with a loose powder, this look is about matte complexion. By buffing pale cheek colors in nude, pale pink, peach, and white I gave Kim’s complexion the look of sheer flawlessness. I started by defining her eyebrows with a soft neutral brown and blended matte white to the arch of the brow and the inner eyelids and contoured Kims face and eyes with the same rose pink powder blush. I then defined her eye crease with a light neutral brown. I applied several individual lashes on top of a fake strip lash and lined her eye with a black liquid liner, always be sure to curl and coat your lashes before applying any fake lashes. I used a flesh tone pencil on the inside of Kim’s eyes to brighten them, a white pencil can tend to look too artificial, a pale flesh tone works better. For Kim’s soft pastel lip color I lined her lips and filled them in with a pale pink lipstick.

REQUESTED: MY OUTLOOK & OPINION ON DA MAKEUP FIELD

Even though I learned all my techniques on my own thru blogs and youtube I still try to do my best and act like a professional when Im working on clients as If I went through a PRO-school which I didnt! I read this quote on a blog and it pretty much answers the question for me"
"This field is pretty competitive because there are so many aspiring makeup artists. You need to be ahead of the curve at all times and make sure you know of different products out there. From high end to low end products, there are a lot of great tools out there for all clients. You can get ahead by doing your homework and knowing of different techniques for different shapes and colors of faces. Start building your kit with the essentials you'd use on your clients. Beauty blogs and forums are a great way to learn techniques and products. Makeup trends are always changing just like fashion" (MAKEUP BY CAMILLA)
This quote couldnt have said it any better. Every person sitting in front of you should feel beautiful when walking away from the work done! Every girl getting her makeup done should get atleast 45 minutes+ (more if for a wedding) of beauty pampering when you are gettin paid for the job to dollyfy someone! You must learn about different products and techniques to explore and give the client more options I can honestly say for myself I use tons of different products on my clients and always give my input and honest opinion! You want to be proud of your work when you are done not regret what you did! Remember these are the people who put your name out there you should be proud they choose you for their big day! Key point also when doing makeup listen to your client at all times and give your honest input! Dont mix to many shimmer shades making someone look like the ball dropping in time square. Always blend well dont leave any harsh lines. Its okay to mix high end and low end products, just because you use an expensive product doesnt mean you are going to do flawless makeup. Build your makeup kit with must haves and dont forget to throw away glosses and mascaras and every creamy product you have every 3 months, powdered products like blushes and eyeshadows can easily be disinfected with alcohol after every use! Always wash brushes after every gig with brush cleaner or baby shampoo. Im not sure if people do this as often as me but I use hand sanitizer before touching anyones face.

Brow Bone/Highlight: Generally, a lighter color will be applied to this area; it may be something that has undertones of bolder colors used on the lid, or it may simply be similar to your skintone. For example, say I do a predominantly green look, I might turn to MAC’s Gorgeous Gold eyeshadow as a highlight color because it will bring out the greens and still allow the color to taper off. Some of my favorite highlight colors are Ricepaper and Shroom.

Above Crease: This is my “blend out” area. There is strong color on the lid and the crease many times, and that strong color needs to be diffused as it moves it way upwards towards the brow. The best way to think about it is as a gradient, going from dark to light, starting on the lid moving towards the brow. Sometimes I use a lighter color than the one I used on my lid to help fade the color upwards, other times I may use the same color I chose for a highlight.

Outer Crease: Luckily my eye was lookin’ a bit tired, because you can really make out the “crease,” which is that fold of skin/wrinkle-like detail you can see. It extends from the beginning of your eye (inside) to the end of your eye (the outside). Most often I deposit color in the outer crease, but sometimes I do bring it inward a touch, more to the “middle” of the crease. I rarely go for darkening the entire length of my crease. A great universal crease color is Carbon, if used lightly, it can darken any look instantly. Soft Brown is also a nice, subtler shade.

Inner Lid: I mentally slice my eyelid into three parts–basically into thirds. There is the inner, middle, and outer thirds. In many looks you will see, a lighter color is put on the inner lid relative to the rest of the colors found on the lid.

Middle of Lid: This is the middle third of the eyelid, and since I typically do similar styles in my looks, this is where a “medium” color in terms of darkness would go. Light, medium, dark is a good way to think of how I deposit and choose what colors go where on the lid. On occasion, I might go medium, light, dark, but not nearly as frequently as I do the former.

Outer Lid: This is the outer third of the eyelid, and this is usually where I put the darkest lid color. Sometimes I will darken the very outermost portion of it (say you split the outer lid third into half, so then it’d be the outer half or the outer sixth of the entire lid) with the same color I would put in my crease.

Upper Lash Line: It is not explicitly labeled in this diagram, but it is where your upper lashes (generally the longest ones, the ones that come from your eyelid) meet your eyelid. This is the actual upper lash line. When lining the upper lash line, many create thicker lines than the natural upper lash line, but the concept is still there.

Upper Waterline: The upper waterline is also not explicitly labeled, but it can be found directly underneath your upper lashes. If you looked up, you would see a tiny bit of space, much like your lower line, and some people line this as well. It is called tightlining, for your reference.

Lower Waterline: The lower waterline is sometimes called the lower rim, because it is essentially the bottom rim of your eye. There are dozens of people who cannot put product on their waterline due to sensitivity, and many others who struggle to find a product that does not fade or dissolve because of the waterline (and the fact that it is…watery!). For those looking for longer lasting products, I know many use gel liners, fluidliners, and some even use liquidlast liners.

Inner Lower Lash Line: Not everyone likes to put color on the lower lash line, which is space directly below the lower waterline. Some prefer just a thin line of eyeliner that expands across both the inner and outer lower lash lines. I often use the 219 brush to apply pops of color; usually, a lighter color that is similar to the colors used on the lids is applied to the inner lower lash line.

Outer Lower Lash Line: Similarly to the inner lower lash line, I again apply a thin line of color using the 219 to the outer lower lash line. There are times where I might even split the lower lash line into thirds, and it just means that there is a middle part of the lower lash line for application. When it comes to smoky eyes, to “smoke out” the look, one applies a darker color to the outer lower lash line or goes for thicker eyeliner and smudges it out around the outer lower lash line.

Upper Lashes: They are not labeled, but I do hope that the majority know where to find these (though explained earlier!). Most makeup users will apply at least one coat of mascara in either brown or black. Brown mascara is more natural and less dramatic, while black can still be natural, but too many coats or using an amplifing mascara will give you dramatic lashes (but hey, I always want these, so there’s no shame in never going au natural on the lashes!). I look up and bring the wand closest to the roots of the lashes and comb it upwards. Sometimes I wiggle, sometimes I turn the brush as I move upwards – it just depends on the mascara.

Lower Lashes: These are the shorter lashes found beneath your eyeball. I always like to give them a quick coat of mascara after I finish doing my upper lashes, because then they’re blacker and stand out a touch. The best way I’ve found to apply mascara to the lower lashes is to use a mascara wand that is not huge and burly – it is a small space, and why do you want to get mascara all over your face? Since I do not even need a super duper mascara, I may use a lesser, but still black, mascara to coat them. Look up and lightly tap the mascara wand to the lashes. I usually just move the wand from side to side, rather than up and down like my upper lashes because I find it coats them to deepen color, slightly lengthen, and that’s all I need.

1.Prepare the skin with a light moisturizer.
2.Blend a touch of concealer under eyes and in any areas you need more coverage.
3.Set with a dusting of loose mineral powder.
4.Dust a soft powder cheek color to the high apples of the cheek.

Eyes

1.Groom and define brows with powder shadow and set with a brow gel.
2.Apply black OR brown eye shadow starting at the upper lids blending up to the crease and around the outer edges. Blend under the lower lashes as well.
3.Line the entire eye with black eye pencil.
4.Curl and coat lashes with an eyelash curler black mascara.

Lips

Here's how you should do it. Look into a mirror and tilt your head up a bit so that the lashline (where liner will go) isn't touching the crease of the eye. Gently stretch your eye outward to prevent blinking. Start lining the outer corner first, going towards the inner corner. Make sure that the line gets thinner towards the inner corners. Now go back to the outter corner and wing the liner out and up a bit for the cat eye effect. If you mess up, wipe the corners with a Q-tip and try again.
